Erection and Repairs

Relocating a dragline or any large piece of mining equipment is a major undertaking. There are contractors who specialize in this type of project, which can take well over a year and have a cost to the customer of many millions of dollars. The customer needs to be fully represented in all phases of such a project, including the initial planning of such an undertaking. Often the customer must reassign a valuable engineering orientated employee from other work to look after this full time undertaking. In addition to the engineering aspect of such a project is the vital accounting and recordkeeping function of a major project.

Donana International Ltd has an in-depth understanding of such a project. We recently represented a US state government agency that funded the moving of an 80 cubic yard dragline from another country into the USA and rebuilt it, incorporating multi-million dollar upgrades to make it one of the most technically advanced machines operating today.  This project was completed in the fall of 2013.

Donana International Ltd maintains a professional working relationship with all the contractors involved with projects of this nature. This relationship includes similar contractors in other countries who may be involved in all or part of such a project. We can be your representative for such a major project.  We provide daily progress reporting and regular in-depth reporting of all phases of the project. All projects of this magnitude will invariably encounter extra costs to repair damages that were unknown at the time of the contract negotiating. Donana International Ltd can verify the reasons and progress on any such extra cost work. Generally, projects of this nature will incorporate some type of OEM upgrades to make the equipment operate more efficiently. Donana International Ltd maintains an excellent working relationship with all the OEMs and can advise the customer on benefits of the proposed upgrades.  We can assist the customer in determining the most cost effective actions that will provide the greatest return on investment for the customer.

Donana International Ltd also maintains good contacts with the major suppliers of large after-market parts for all mining machines. Many such parts can cost millions of dollars and require several weeks of manufacturing time. During this manufacturing stage it is imperative that the customer visits the manufacturing facility to do their own QA inspections and verify the progress of the work. Again, this often requires that the customer take a key employee from their regular duties to perform this task. We have the manufacturing experience to perform these QA inspections on behalf of the customer, and can also help the customer source some of these major parts. As an example; Donana International Ltd performed this function for one foreign mining company. We sourced and received competitive bids for multiple parts exceeding $12 million in value. In another instance, we performed inspections of draglines in two separate countries for possible purchase by a customer in a third country. Donana International Ltd prepared the purchase proposal for these machines and one of the owners accepted the Donana International Ltd bid for purchase.
